Brothers Provide Safe Rides to Elon Students
On the weekends of January 7th and 14th, fifteen of our brothers volunteered with Elon Safe Rides.
Safe Rides helps prevent drunk driving and prevent walking alone late at night by providing free rides within a one mile radius of campus. As a student led and operated organization, students volunteer as drivers, navigators or dispatchers and provide rides for students Thursday 10 pm to 2 am and Friday and Saturdays from 10:30 pm to 2:30 am.
Safe Rides was founded in 1992 when Elon football player Chad Macy was killed in a car accident as a result of driving under the influence. We are very fortunate to have this organization here at Elon and recognize the importance of being involved an in organization that helps prevent these traumatic bad decisions. Kappa Sigma’s involvement in Safe Rides is something that we are proud to be a part of.
